DIPLOMA IN PRACTICAL NURSING FALL 2018 DEADLINES Applications to Practical Nursing for Fall 2018 will be accepted between August 1, 2017 at 8am until August 31, 2017 at 4pm both in-person and online. We strongly recommend that learners apply online. Late applications will not be considered. After learners apply, they will then have until mid-September to submit their proof of enrolment from their high school. This process improvement ensures that your learners are not disadvantaged in their final high school year.

 

Applicants who are enrolled in high school or upgrading should request their school send an interim transcript and current enrolments to our college via email (admissions@bowvalleycollege.ca) or fax (403-297-4887).

 

Candidates will be prioritised in the order their application (not transcript) was received, on a first applied, first admitted basis. The minimum high school academic requirements are:

 

· English Language Arts 30-1 (60%) or 30-2 (70%)

· Math 20-1 (50%) or 20-2 (60%)

· Biology 30 (60%)

IBM STEM 4 Girls Teen Tech Club Calgary Chapter

IBM is pleased to present the IBM STEM4Girls Teen Tech Club Calgary Chapter. Apply to partake in a 8-week long program to promote technology entrepreneurship in high-school aged girls.

When: Every Tuesday night, from 6-9 pm from July 4th-August 22nd

Where: District Ventures and IBM Innovation Space, 2540 Kensington Road NW, Calgary AB
The club will be held out of IBM’s brand new DV/IBM Innovation Space located in Kensington, allowing club members the opportunity to interact with technology startups working out of the space.

What: The opportunity to join a cohort of girls in grades 10 & 11 on a 8-week long program to create a project (i.e. an app), learn tech entrepreneurship skills, and build confidence. The final projects will be presented to a panel of Dragons and will be given the opportunity to exhibit their projects at Calgary’s Beakerhead Tech Showcase.

Who: Various experts from IBM, ATB Financial and District Ventures will be delivering content and mentoring the girls.

Pearson Gender Sexuality Alliance

Lester B Pearson is proud to be an inclusive community of belonging. The Pearson Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) provides a safe space where diversity is celebrated. The activism component meets at lunch on Tuesdays in Room 2136 as well, students are welcome to eat lunch in a safe space on Thursdays in Room 2136. All are welcome!

Automotive exploratory opportunity with the Calgary Police Service

This exploratory opportunity allows students to work with industry experts in the Calgary Police Services Automotive team doing maintenance of Calgary Police Service vehicles. Students can earn up to 6 credits in off-campus education and will be eligible for one credit for every 25 hours of work. Please note Calgary Police Service hiring protocols include an enhanced security clearance and the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test.
